What is a health and safety audit?  

Health and Safety is as a key business risk and without adequate policies it could have catastrophic results for the company and leave the directors and officers of the company open to possible legal action.

It is essential that the board establishes an effective ‘downward’ communication system and management structure, with the integration of good health and safety management within all business decisions, to manage risk and protect its future financial viability.

In the current economic climate a lot of companies cannot afford the luxury of their own health and safety team so this function can be outsourced to a specialist company to conduct a health and safety audit.


The audit

Health and safety law places duties on organisations and employers, and directors can be personally liable when these duties are breached: members of the board have both collective and individual responsibility for health and safety.

The Audit will provide a clear picture of the companies’ performance in terms of effective Health and Safety management allowing the Board to take urgent action if a problem is identified.

The directors and officers also have a good defence if they fall foul of any legislation as they had employed experts within the sector to carry out the review.
